چکیده

is one of the most important broadband wireless technologies and is anticipated to be a viable alternative to traditional wired broadband techniques due to its cost efficiency. Being an emerging technology, WiMAX supports multimedia applications such as voice over IP (VoIP), voice conference and online gaming. It is necessary to provide Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteed with different characteristics. Therefore, an effective scheduling is critical for the WiMAX system. Many traffic scheduling algorithms are available for wireless networks, e.g. Round Robin, Proportional Fairness (PF) scheme and Integrated Crosslayer scheme (ICL). Among these conventional schemes, some cannot differentiate services, while some can fulfill the service differentiation with high-complexity implementation.

Mixed Approach for Scheduling Process in Wimax for High Qos

WiMAX(worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access) networks are the networks which are responsible for providing many services like video, data and voice. The WiMAX technology satisfies the modern need of broadband internet through wireless access. For managing all these services through WiMAX, IEEE802.16 gives QOS (Quality of Service) parameter. In WiMAX, a fundamental challenge is to achi...

Adaptive Time-utility Function Scheme for Downlink Packet Scheduling in IEEE 802.16e/WiMAX Networks

WiMAX is a well-known broadband wireless access technology that supports multimedia transmission users. IEEE 802.16e has evolved into five quality of service (QoS) scheduling types for WiMAX uplink transmissions, but downlink transmission types have not yet been defined. To assist in this task, and to support efficient base station packet scheduling that takes QoS into account, I propose an ada...

Scheduling Problems and Solutions in WiMAX Networks

WiMAX is developed to support large-scale wireless broadband access. Defined in a series of IEEE 802.16 standards, three architectures of WiMAX networks are proposed to adapt to various environments. The point-to-multipoint architecture is used to manage a few number of devices, where each device is able to directly communicate with the central base station. The relay architecture deploys some ...

Packet Scheduling with QoS and Fairness for Downlink Traffic in WiMAX Networks

The IEEE 802.16 standard is supposed to provide a wide-range broadband wireless service, but it leaves the implementation of the wireless resource scheduler as an open issue. We have studied the scheduling problem and propose a two level scheduling (TLS) scheme with support for quality of service and fairness guarantees for downlink traffic in a WiMAX network. A central controller Base Station ...

Performance Analysis of QoS in PMP Mode WiMax Networks

IEEE 802.16 standard supports two different topologies: point to multipoint (PMP) and Mesh. In this paper, a QoS mechanism for point to multipoint of IEEE 802.16 and BS scheduler for PMP Mode is proposed. This paper also describes quality of service over WiMAX networks. Average WiMAX delay, Average WiMAX load and Average WiMAX throughput at base station is analyzed and compared by applying diff...
